Netcraft announced in January that
they found
a Windows 2000 server up and running for more than two years on the internet.
First, this information was funny itself: One unique server worldwide with
a good uptime seems worth a notice when it is Windows :-)
The hilarous part of this story is that this nice uptime went to a tragic end just a few days after this announce. As a coincidence, this was exactly when the SQL Slammer worm came to life, end of January.
See you again in two years? LOL ;-)

We went to see it today (it was released in Japan yesterday). Great film!!! It is a pity to need to wait one more year for the last part :-(

Guillaume (Sydney): Avec les outils que l'équipe infrastructure nous fournit... Ok, je vais utiliser les miens dans ces conditions...
Bruno (Tokyo): N'écris pas ça, Fred.
Guillaume (Sydney): With the tools infrastructure team provides us... Ok, I will use my own tools, then...
Bruno (Tokyo): Don't record this one, Fred.

We bought brand new speakers today. We went to Akihabara, and spent the day
there, trying to find the best ones.
Strangely, we agreed on
Yamaha NS-8HX model; I did not know that Yamaha was a good speaker
maker. I knew
Cabasse,
JBL,
and Bose,
but Yamaha was really the best, especially on vocals (we made our decision
on Mozart's Requiem).
These speakers are really good!
We also bought a new CD player, the Sony SA30ES model. Very good, too!

Maybe you never heard about Tama-chan, especially if you don't live in
Japan.
This is a
seal
who was spotted recently along the Katabiragawa river, near Yokohama.
Its nickname, Tama-chan, was given when it was first seen on Tama River,
about 6 months ago.
Tama-chan will be
registered
as Yokohama resident next week, by Nishi Ward in Yokohama. On its resident
card, the following information will appear:
Tamao Nishi (aka Tama-chan)
Banks of the Katabiragawa river
Nishi-hiranumacho, Nishi Ward
Yokohama
Sugoi, ne!

She was 42, her name was Kalpana Chawla, she was beautiful.
She died yesterday, in Columbia shuttle, with six other people...
She was the symbol of one fifth of the mankind, and her name was not even prononced on Radio France Internationale.
Instead we had a 5-10 minutes about one of the other seven casualties, coming from a small country, apparently more important than India...
I would like to know about her instead...
I am sad for all of them, and their families...

My visa was wrong, and I could not take the plane yesterday: The Chinese
Embassy made a mistake 2 weeks ago when we asked for it.
They said:
"look at the date, you can go to China until beginning of February".
Of course, the visa was fine until that date, but it was for
one entry only!
And I already used that entry in November :-(
The airport staff
tried to join both Embassy in Tokyo, and Dalian airport, but they
could do nothing.
So I went back home, I got Boudicca back, and I am waiting for my
wife to come back end of next week...
